Credentialing involves the process of enrollment, physician credential verification, and hospital privileges. Physicians and other healthcare practitioners who wish to bill an insurance company and receive proper reimbursement as an in-network provider must be credentialed. Credentialing is a process that must be completed according to the insurance provider.

Credentialing should always start early to prevent any delays with the credentialing process. Be prepared to wait  90 days for an update on each application submitted, additional time may be required if any errors occur. Keep your PECOS and CAQH accounts current, keep the original copies of documentation available, and preview your state's regulations.
